The Laboratory

This Is What
Professional
Actually Looks Like.

Not a van. Not a garage. A purpose-built textile restoration laboratory designed around one thing — your rug.

The Infrastructure

Built for Rugs That
Can't Afford Mistakes.

Three pieces of infrastructure that separate a real restoration laboratory from everything else in the market.

Rug i.q. 400 sq ft Wash Pit
400 SQ FT
The Wash Pit

Most cleaning operations work in spaces too small to fully submerge a large rug — so they don't. Our 400 square foot wash pit was custom-designed to handle palace-sized rugs with full submersion. Every inch of fiber reaches the water. Every inch gets clean. The largest facility of its kind in Arizona.

Rug i.q. 1,000 Gallon Flushing System
1,000 GAL
The Flushing System

We don't recycle water. Ever. Our system circulates 1,000 gallons of pure, softened water through each rug to purge every microscopic trace of soap, mineral deposit, and debris. What comes out of your rug at the end of our process is nothing but clean fiber — no residue, no buildup, no compromise.

Rug i.q. State-of-the-Art Centrifuge
95 %
The Centrifuge

Standard shops hang rugs to dry — a process that takes days and leaves moisture trapped in the backing, where mold and rot begin. Our engineering-grade centrifuge removes 95% of moisture in minutes. Your rug dries faster, smells fresher, and returns to you without the structural damage that slow drying causes.

The i.q. Method

Nine Steps.
Zero Compromises.

Every rug that enters our laboratory follows this exact protocol — in this exact order. There are no shortcuts. There are no exceptions.

01
Diagnostic
Initial Inspection

Before anything touches your rug, we perform a forensic assessment — documenting every stain, area of wear, fiber condition, and structural concern in writing. You receive a complete report. No assumptions, no guesswork.

02
Diagnostic
Prep & Analysis

We test dye stability before any chemical solution is formulated. Wool, silk, and natural dyes react differently — our protocol is built around your rug's specific chemistry, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

03
Mechanical
Dusting & Badgering

Using harmonic vibration equipment, we dislodge pounds of embedded sand and grit from the foundation before any water is introduced. Skipping this step means washing the abrasive deeper into the fiber — most shops skip it.

04
Chemical
Hand Washing

Your rug enters our 400 sq ft wash pit for full submersion hand-washing with pH-balanced, fiber-specific solutions. No machines. Skilled technicians work the pile by hand — the same way the rug was made to be cared for.

05
Mechanical
Flushing System

1,000 gallons of pure, softened water circulate through the rug to purge every trace of soap, mineral, and debris. We never reuse water. What exits the system is nothing but clean fiber — no residue, no buildup.

06
Mechanical
Water Extraction

Our engineering-grade centrifuge removes 95% of moisture in minutes — not days. This protects the structural integrity of the backing and eliminates the mold, rot, and odor that result from slow air-drying.

07
Environmental
Controlled Drying

The remaining moisture is managed in temperature and humidity-controlled drying rooms. We monitor the environment throughout the process — because how a rug dries is as important as how it's washed.

08
Finishing
Pile Brushing

Every strand of pile and fringe is hand-groomed back to its original direction and drape. This is the step that restores the cashmere feel underfoot — and the one most cleaning services omit entirely.

09
Quality
Final Inspection

A 15-point quality check is completed before your rug is wrapped for return. Color uniformity, fringe alignment, pile direction, structural integrity — every dimension verified. If it isn't perfect, it doesn't leave the facility.

01 Diagnostic
Initial Inspection

Forensic assessment of every stain, fiber condition, and structural concern — documented in writing before anything begins.

02 Diagnostic
Prep & Analysis

Dye stability testing before any chemical is applied. Your rug's chemistry determines the protocol — not the other way around.

03 Mechanical
Dusting & Badgering

Harmonic vibration removes pounds of embedded sand before water is introduced. Most shops skip this entirely.

04 Chemical
Hand Washing

Full submersion in our 400 sq ft wash pit with pH-balanced, fiber-specific solutions. No machines — skilled hands only.

05 Mechanical

1,000 gallons of pure water flush every trace of soap and mineral. We never reuse water.

06 Mechanical
Water Extraction

Centrifuge extraction removes 95% of moisture in minutes — protecting structure, preventing mold and odor.

07 Environmental
Controlled Drying

Temperature and humidity-controlled rooms. How a rug dries matters as much as how it's washed.

08 Finishing
Pile Brushing

Every strand hand-groomed back to its original drape. The step that restores the cashmere feel most services omit.

09 Quality
Final Inspection

15-point quality check. If it isn't perfect, it doesn't leave the facility. No exceptions.

The Difference

Two Ways to
Clean a Rug.

Not all cleaning is the same. Here's what the difference actually looks like — in plain language.

The Common Approach
Standard Cleaning
Water

Tap water is used — often hard, mineral-heavy, and the same water that leaves deposits on your dishes. Those minerals go directly into your rug's fibers.

Drying

Rugs are hung or laid flat and left to air-dry over several days. Moisture trapped in the backing breeds mold and structural decay before the rug ever returns to you.

Pre-Treatment

Most operations skip dust and grit removal entirely. The abrasive particles embedded in the foundation get washed deeper — not out — with each cleaning.

Chemistry

A single cleaning solution is applied to every rug regardless of fiber type. Wool, silk, and synthetic fibers react differently — a universal approach risks dye damage and shrinkage.

Assessment

Rugs are accepted and cleaned without a documented pre-inspection. Pre-existing damage goes unrecorded — leaving both parties without clarity on what was found and when.

Pricing

Quotes are given quickly, often without seeing the rug. Surprises appear on the final invoice — additional charges for stains, size adjustments, or treatments that weren't disclosed upfront.

The i.q. Standard
Rug i.q.
Water

Softened, pH-balanced water only — 1,000 gallons per rug, never recycled. No mineral deposits. No residue. Just clean fiber from foundation to pile.

Drying

Engineering-grade centrifuge removes 95% of moisture in minutes. Temperature and humidity-controlled rooms handle the rest — no mold, no rot, no odor risk.

Pre-Treatment

Harmonic vibration dusting before any water is introduced. Pounds of embedded grit are removed from the foundation first — protecting every fiber that follows.

Chemistry

Dye stability testing determines the formula. Every protocol is built around your specific rug's chemistrynever a one-size-fits-all approach.

Assessment

Written inspection report before anything begins. Every stain, condition, and concern documentedyou know exactly what we found and what we recommend.

Pricing

The quote you approve is the invoice you receive. No work begins without your explicit sign-off. No surprise charges. Ever.
